IHANSW is reinstating industrial hemp to its proper place – both commercially and agriculturally. Industrial hemp assists in improving the quality of soil and helps reduce accumulation of carbon (CO2) and minimizes damage caused by the greenhouse effect.

AIHA QUEENSLAND CHAPTER
AIHA Queensland Chapter is Chaired by Arthur Wajs, Treasurer of the national body. Arthur is an experienced hemp farmer with properties in Queensland and northern NSW. The Chapter’s aim is to encourage more farmers to grow hemp. To achieve this the path to gaining a hemp licence needs to be simplified. In 2019 AIHA was part of an industry delegation to the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (DAFF). The purpose of this meeting was to emphasise the challenges facing hemp farmers and to urge for changes to the licencing system. Arthur is working closely with industry figures and DAFF to facilitate change.
EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL HEMP ASSOCIATION
The European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) represents the common interests of hemp farmers, producers and traders working with hemp fibres, shives, seeds, leaves and cannabinoids. Our main task is to serve, protect and represent the hemp sector in the EU and international policy-making.
EIHA covers different areas for the application of hemp, namely its use for construction materials, textiles, plastics, bio-composites, cosmetics, feed, food and supplements. Our network encompasses operators from 25 EU Member States and 12 non-EU countries, including members in North America and the Asia Pacific. In total, EIHA acts on behalf of more than 250 members that represent the entire industrial hemp production chain, from seed to shelf.
